We would like to introduce you to Gun Owners of Utah, informally known as
GOUtah! We, as uncompromising, dedicated gun rights activists, are again stepping up to the plate at this difficult time to do our part to help hold the legislative and political line against all those who would seek to abridge or destroy our gun rights. We have been, are now and will continue to be an independent, non-partisan, non-affiliated, no nonsense, no compromise grassroots voice bringing you the honest, unvarnished truth about critical issues facing Utah’s gun owners. Our position is if it’s not in the best interests of or hampers the freedom of even a single Utah gun owner, its not good law or policy.
We don’t expect to win any popularity contests, we realize you may not agree with every conclusion we draw, we know we’ll ruffle some political, media and organizational feathers, and we know that much of this information will not be good news, but it will be the most honest and accurate information currently available to us, and in turn to you, so that you may act quickly and effectively to protect your constitutional rights and firearms freedom. If we don’t do it together, it won’t get done. We hope you will support us in this mission.
Thank you. Now, let’s all get to work! Our rights and freedoms need to be
protected today!
By now you’re probably wondering what Gun Owners of Utah (GOUtah!) stands for. Here’s what we believe in and the yardstick by which we’ll make our decisions and take our positions on these important issues. They are our bedrock principles. We hope you’ll share them with us.
GOUtah! believe that every individual has specific, unalienable rights under Natural, Common and Constitutional laws. Many of these individual rights are specifically identified in the Bill of Rights and in the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Utah. Foremost among these rights are the individual rights of both personal self defense and political self-determination. Inherent in the exercise of these rights is a readily accessible and effective means to achieve and protect those ends. That is the underlying purpose of the Second Amendment, which "shall not be infringed". To this end, there can and will be no compromise on the part of GOUtah! in the vigorous defense of the individual exercise of these rights.
GOUtah! will never compromise one portion of our rights or sacrifice one segment of the lawful gun-owning public to preserve or protect the interests of another. We’ll throw no one to the sharks in order to buy time or curry political or media favor. We denounce anyone and any organization which elects to do so.
GOUtah! will make effective use of every legitimate political, organizational, informational, educational and other process to maintain the rights and further the interests of Utah’s lawful firearms owners. We are a mainstream network of individuals and groups working together toward these ends.
GOUtah! recognizes that there will be differences of opinion and levels of commitment among those in our network. We hope these differences will never stand in the way of progress toward our common goals and purposes. We also respect the individual right of conscience, and will never demand any individual violate that right in pursuit of our objectives.
GOUtah! as a mainstream network believes in the peaceable political process as defined and limited by the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Utah. We specifically reject the initiation of force or violence against individuals or institutions to achieve our objectives, and encourage everyone involved in this issue to do the same.
GOUtah! as a whole will only be as effective in protecting everyone’s rights as it’s individual members are in protecting their own. Every individual has both a right and a responsibility to be a positive force, actively involved on an ongoing basis to protect their rights and further their interests. Freedom is not a destination, but an ongoing, lifetime journey. The road to freedom is long and hard, with many distractions and challenges. Those who have gone before us have helped pave the way, and it is up to each us to see that their work is not in vain. Each must do their part to further the progress of freedom, for ourselves and for future generations.
The BCI Waste on Redundant Brady checks is now...
This represents the current total dollar amount of Brady background check user fees paid by Utah gun purchasers since November 1998, all in order to maintain the redundant Utah State BCI bureaucracy, instead of relying on the FREE Federal NICS background check system. This is YOUR hard-earned money being wasted, right before your eyes.
Based upon data supplied by the BCI & calculated from 1 November 1998 when the Federal Brady Instant Check (NICS) was online. [ The accuracy of the value displayed is dependant upon the accuracy of your date & time settings! ]
